At Augustana University we have a diversity strategic plan. And with that strategic plan, we're getting every single unit, every single office, every single department, every single student group to understand that we all have a role to play when it comes to diversity, equity and inclusion here at Augie. The Diversity Advocacy Certification Training is a 10 courses for faculty and staff, eight courses plus two electives for students, where they have the opportunity to become a Certified Diversity Advocate. Not only does it help better them as people, it helps them to also go out into the world and make this a better world for everyone else that's a part of it. There are a variety of offerings for students at Augustana University, specifically from the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, from joining affinity groups to joining organizations already established or even if you want to bring an organization here, you know, we have the funds. We have the structure in place for students to really create that the community that they want to create here at the institution. We have the African Students Union, we have the Black Students Union. The Asian Student Organization, which I'm the president of. Being the President of the Asian Student Organization has been super rewarding. When I see students with different backgrounds attend our events it makes me and everyone on the board feel super happy that other students would like to learn more about the Asian community on campus. I think it's important for students to be involved in diversity groups so that they are able to better understand their peers and the people around them.
